A Phlebotomist is a person specially trained to collect blood from a patient for laboratory analysis.

 

Traditional Duties of a Phlebotomist!

 

·       Collect routine skin puncture and venous blood samples

·       Prepare specimens for transport to ensure stability of sample

·       Transport specimen to the Laboratory

·       Promote good public relations with patients and health care personnel

·       Maintain safe working conditions

·       Perform laboratory computer operations

·       Participate in continuing education programs

 

Today as the nation moves into managed care, the duties of a Phlebotomist is constantly changing.
